Solidarity with Austria Salzburg

WHEN energy drink magnate Dieter Mateschitz re-badged and re-named the hard-up Austrian Bundesliga side Austria Salzburg after his Red Bull brand in 2005, he hadn’t reckoned with the tenacity of the club’s most dedicated fans.
For the right to wear their traditional violet and white colours, the Initiative Violett-Weiss fought the new regime every step of the way: prompting unprecedented scenes of terrace solidarity across Europe and paving the way for the reformation of their club, SV Austria Salzburg.
TBG has followed their ascent from the seventh division of the Austrian game and, for the first time in its entirety, this is their story so far.
